Gluteal implants, commonly known as butt implants, are a type of buttock augmentation procedure offered by Dr. Jaime Campos-Leon. These solid silicone implants are used to enhance the buttocks and are a very popular technique according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
What does the procedure consist of?
Dr. Campos-Leon inserts these implants through an incision in the crease, either between or above the gluteus muscle. Intramuscular implants tend to have the most natural look and feel but the choice of technique is ultimately made by Dr. Campos-Leon and the patient.
Recovery and aftercare
Patients usually wear compression garments around the gluteal area that help to keep the implants in place and to avoid shifting during the healing process.
Surgeons recommend that patients avoid sitting for 2 weeks following the procedure and keep weight off the buttocks for 10 to 15 days after the surgery. To avoid lying on your back, Dr. Campos-Leon typically recommends a special device that can be used for sitting, usually referred as the boppy or buttock pillow. Patients should wear their compression garments around the gluteal area for the recommended amount of time and avoid strenuous exercise or lifting for several weeks.
